Christopher Walken, 79, joins the cast of Dune: Part Two weeks after Florence Pugh and Austin Butler also sign on
Dune: Part Two has just added another legendary Hollywood talent.
Christopher Walken has signed on to play the role of Emperor Shaddam IV in the highly anticipated sequel based on Frank Herbert’s novel Dune, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Dune was critically acclaimed, garnering ten Academy Award nominations and winning six of the coveted trophies.

Timothée Chalamet, Zendaya and Javier Bardem will reprise their roles from the initial film as will many others.
Walken, 79, is just the latest addition to the cast that now features Midsummer star Florence Pugh and Elvis actor Austin Butler.
The actor’s character Catch Me If You will terrorize the population of Arrakis, the planet to which Chalamet’s Paul Atreides and his family were sent in the original film.

He will work with the evil Vladimir Harkonnen of Stellan Skarsgård to put down a rebellion started by Chalamet and the Fremen, the planet’s indigenous inhabitants who live in the inhospitable desert.
Currently, the film will be released in October 2023.
Walken’s role as the emperor will be his first on film since his movie Wild Mountain Thyme came out in 2020.

Another new face: Austin Butler (pictured April 2022) will also join the Dune universe as Feyd-Rautha
He has appeared in a couple of television series since then, including the Amazon Prime Video series The Outlaws and the Ben Stiller series Severance.
The first follows a group of strangers who have to work together while doing community service in England.
Severance centers on a group of office workers whose memories are surgically divided between work and personal life until a mysterious colleague helps them try to uncover the truth.
